Baz's Big Adventure to the Blue Mountains

Hey everyone, we're back and we had a blast visiting the Leura Dales!

Mum took lots of photos, so here is the pictorial story of

'Bazzy's BIG Adventure!'

We started off nice and early for a bit of a drive.....984kms from our house to Broomelea in Leura.
Geez that sounds like a lot of kms, so here I am asking daddy if he is sure he knows the way.

We roared down the highway in mum's Subaru turbo.........through the wonderful Australian bush.

There were some big yellow signs saying look out for Koala's but I looked and looked and never saw any!

We had to stop quite a few times, it was my first ever roadtrip so mum wasn't sure how long I could go without peeing. We stopped at a town called Gundagai (pronounced Gun-da-guy).

It has a very famous statue of a dog sitting on a tuckerbox (what they used before they had fridges). We stopped to have a look at it too.

Here's a nice photo mum and Ellie.

Ellie hurt her back leggie in Gundagai while she was jumping over a big log. So she was a bit limpy on our holiday, but she is ok now.

Then finally after 11 hours and 30 minutes we saw the big sign that says Welcome to Leura! .........................Yay!

.................................We're in Leura!

Here are mum and I at the Leura Dales place, outside the old Coach House that has been converted into a guest cottage. It's very pretty. We all got to sleep in there. I even slept on the big bed with the pinkies...ssshhhh don't tell Denise!

Look at me prancing around the huge gardens. The Leura dales and I got along famously (after a little getting to know you sniff and a couple of growls, but nothing serious)
Bryan was playing with us out in the garden. We all had a great time playing chasey round and round the garden.
Old Miss Ellie was checking out the big garden too. She didn't play chasey, and of course she has met all the Leura dales before, so they were ok with her from the start - no one growled at old Miss Ellie.

Look at Noah and I playing hidey in the garden bed. Noah dug out the biggest hole to lie in....geez if I had dug a hole like that at home mum would have said BAD BAZZY!

And this is what Noah looked like after all his digging.....geez Noah did you use your nose as a shovel??? Look at all that mud!

All the pinkies laughed at him.

Look who we got to meet...Colin Harries.
He came over for a visit with his mum, and we all played chasey - except Colin is way too fast for us!

The next morning we all went to a big lake in Wentworth Falls. Here I am looking like a pretty boy. Mum calls me her handsome boy.

We all went for a big walkies around the lake together - here I am with my sissy Ellie. Notice I am in front ha ha.

Those crazy Leura dales all went into the water. I watched them very closely and then decided hmmm maybe I can get my feet wet too, so I gave it a go. I splashed around and walked funny and daddy laughed at me.

And then I saw them....ducks.

Lots of them.

Ducks, on the water, but just out of my reach.

Too bad I was on my flexi lead, otherwise I reckon I could have got that ducky!
We walked around the lake some more and then the Leura dales all went in the water again.

So daddy coaxed me in too. He even got in with me.
I decided I liked it - I was closer to those ducks, and daddy took the lead off me, so I was FREE!

Look at me mum - I had to turn around and check that mum was watching me- see I am in the water with the Leura Dales!

I went out deeper and deeper until suddenly I couldn't reach the bottom with my paws - so I madly started paddling.

And Bazzy learnt to swim. Woooo hoooo.

Mum was SO excited. She was saying "go Bazzy go!" "Good boy Bazzy".

Wooo hooo Bazzy was having a great time!

Then we went back to the Leura Dales place and had a rest in the back garden after another big play session of chasey.

Denise came out with some treats and said "what do good dales get?" So of course I joined in too.
I always know to sit for treats. Leura Dales know this too.

It was a big 2 days of running and playing and by the second night I was conked out on the couch with my daddy. Gee I was a tired boy!

Then before we knew it we were back in the car for the long drive home.
The magic Tom Tom said we were halfway home, but still 489kms to go........sigh
So I did what any smart Dale would do and slept almost the whole way home. Mum had to wake me up each time we stopped.
Eventually we saw it.....the big "Welcome to Melbourne" sign.
Y'know it really should say 'Welcome BACK to Melbourne' ha ha.
It meant we were almost home......just another 1 1/2 hours to go.

Just when we had had enough of the car and I was starting to whine (well it was a LONG trip) there was the sign we had all been waiting for....the turn off for home.
Yay, yippee, we're home. Look at me so eager to get out of the car and check out my back garden.

It was a wonderful adventure, my first ever holiday with the pinkies and Ellie.

We drove almost 2000kms and I was a good boy the whole time (just ask mum- she said I was on my BEST behaviour wooo hoooo)

I can't wait till our next road trip.

Love ya all - Bazzy xxx

Bazzy and the Tube

Mum got this fantastic tube thingy in the mail this week. It had a lovely drawing inside from Linda at Planet Airedale. She had drawn a big montage of lots of the Airedale members. Harley and Ellie are in it.

Mum is going to get it framed and hang it on the wall.

Best of all though, I managed to steal the empty post tube and ran off to have a good chew on it.

Watch me in action!

Remembering Sweet Harley

It is one year today that our sweet Harley crossed the rainbow bridge.

Her star is shining up in that great big sky.

We miss you sweetheart.

Santa Paws came to town

Hey look who we went to visit!

Mum and dad took us for a drive down to the RSPCA to meet SANTA.........wooooohoooooooooo

We had a great time. Bazzy sniffed him all over (stuck his big furry nose straight down his crotch actually lol)

I climbed up onto the chair and had a good sniff of his big furry white beard. Last time I saw Santa I tried to play bitey face with him, but I got told off by my mum! Oooooops.

Bazzy is on the left (mum says doesn't he look just like Harley?) and of course I am on the right. Santa had to hang onto my collar because I kept getting up to go to my daddy!
I haven't been very well lately, I had a seizure a few weeks ago and mum and dad had to rush me to the emergency animal hospital in the middle of the night. It scared the crap outta all of us. I couldn't stand up and my eyes were rolling around in my head, even after the seizure stopped.
The nice lady Vet gave me valium to try and calm me down (I think they should have given some to mum too).
They kept me in the hospital overnight and stuck some great big needles in my leggies.
They found a great big lump (2cm wide) inside down near my bottom. They stuck a big needle into it to take a biopsy sample to send away for testing. They also took lots of my blood to send away for testing too.
They told mum and dad that it was a 50/50 chance the lump might be cancer.
BUT IT'S NOT !
Yay... all the test results are back and I am ok. It took 2 weeks for all the results to come back, and both mum and dad have been worried sick about me.....but it is all good now.
They still do not know what caused the seizure, but I haven't had anymore. But they did find that the calcium levels in my blood are too high.
So I go off to see Dr Steve our vet this Saturday for more blood tests and another Cartrophen injection.
I was a little bit distressed after the whole thing and spent a couple of days sleeping and not doing much else.
Then after about a week, I started to feel much better and now I am back to normal, wrestling with Bazzy and playing.
AND....yesterday was my 9th Barkday!
I got a nice new bed, and a special dinner and mum made Bazzy behave and leave me alone all night.
AND....because I am feeling better now, and so long as Dr Steve says ok, we are still all driving up to Leura next week to visit the Leura Dales before Christmas. Woooohoooooooooo.

Hi everyone
We've been a bit quiet lately.
A few things have happened though. Some good some not so good.
The good stuff first:
Mummy and daddy both started new jobs, and daddy got a new car.
Miss Ellie got to have the very first ride in it too.

Not so good:
Poor old Miss Ellie had a seizure last Monday night. Mum and dad rushed her to the 24 hour animal hospital, which luckily for us is only about 10 minutes away from home.
She was so frightened that mum rode in the back holding on to her, as she couldn't stand up but kept trying to.
The lady vet that they saw was very nice according to mum.
They gave Miss Ellie valium to try and calm her down and then they did lots and lots of tests to see what was wrong with my big sissy, but they ended up keeping her in the hospital overnight to do more tests and to put her on a drip.
While they were looking at her they found a big lump inside near sissy's bottom.
The vet lady didn't like the look of it either so they did a biopsy of it.

The biospy test came back clear, but we are all waiting for the results of the blood tests to find out what 1: caused the seizure and 2: is the lump cancerous?

Old Miss Ellie is back home now, but she is very quiet and mum and dad wouldn't let me play with her for a few days.
Even now she never really wants to play - she just sleeps all the time.
But she is eating well and sleeping well and there have been no more seizures, so we are all happy about that.
We just have to wait for the test results to see what happens next.

Mum has been home with us cause she not been well either, so she took some photos of us. We haven't had any for a long time. Here is a nice shot of me waiting for Miss Ellie to come home from the hospital.

Here we are both of us just resting - no wrestling allowed now.

More of me - aren't I just too cute?

We will keep you all posted on Miss Ellie's progress.

See ya....Bazzy.

Dales in the Garden

Hello everyone, it has been ages since we have been able to update our bloggie.

We haven't been up to much really, just the normal stuff of eating, sleeping, wrestling, going for walkies, you know how it is.

I (Miss Ellie) have been getting these great big Cartrophen injections each week for my arthritis.
They seem to have made a huge difference and I now like to play and run again like I used too. I still get a little bit of stiffness, but not much.

I went and had my yearly check up with the vet man, except it wasn't Steve my usual vet man...it was a lady vet named Leanne. She was really nice and very gentle with me, so I liked her alot. Plus she kept feeding me lots and lots of dried liver treats, so I really really liked her!
She says I am in great shape for an almost 9 year old Airegirl.
She checked my heart and my temperature (how rude) and my teethies and said it was all good.
She told mum I have very good teethies for a dale my age.Yay. Must be all those yummy bones mum gives us to chomp on.

It has started to warm up again now. We have had a few hot days already.

I have gone back to hiding in my secret place under the bushes down the back of the garden.
Only problem is that now Bazzy follows me so I get no peace at all.

Bazzy has been his normal bratty self. He is way bigger than me now, but I still show him who is boss.
He thinks it is him, but I just let him think that. He can have all the toys, push past to go out the door first, whatever.
But I still pin him to the floor by the throat whenever he gets outta line!

I get my food first and he has to wait. Mum makes him sit and wait while I eat, otherwise he would scoff all his food really fast then come over and push me out of my bowl and eat all my food too.

Fat little piggie boy. Here he is eating his chicken in the garden this morning.

Here I am eating my chicken. I like to keep my food clean, not roll it around in the grass.
Notice my new kennel? It was supposed to be for Bazzy, but the big baby was too scared of it.
Ha ha he won't go in it!
So now it is MINE! Daddy took my old Dale House away and now I get to have afternoon naps in peace in my new Dale House, because big sookie boy Bazzy leaves me alone now..... he is scared of the kennel. How funny is that!

We have both been helping daddy out in the garden. He has been busy building a new verandah along the back of the house.
It will keep the summer sun off all the big windows, so hopefully the house won't get so hot now.

It looks good - here is a photo mum took.

It isn't finished yet, but will be soon. Dad says mum doesn't paint the timber fast enough lol.
So that is pretty much all that has been happening at our place.
Bazzy is still growing and has now hit 30kg. He is taller than me now too, and as you can see in the photos he is much more solid than I am.
Mum says Baz is fat, ha ha.
She calls him her "fatboy". But it is only because he still limps and can't go walkies everyday like I do.
See ya
Miss Ellie

Wow I had a great time visiting my nanna and Sam last Sunday.

Mum finally decided I was big enough and well behaved (ha ha) enough to be trusted to take on a visit to nanna's house.

Ellie has been many many times, but I have NEVER been before.

Old nanna is pretty frail after her heart operation in April, so mum kept me away from her.

But I finally got to go.....AND I was on my very best Bazzy behaviour too.

I climbed up onto the couch with them and smooched my way into their hearts......they LOVED me. True they did!

Ellie had a good time too, she just made herself right at home and I followed her all around the big back garden because she knew where all the best smells were.

Nanna's dog Dunstall wasn't there, Sam had taken him out for the afternoon, as he isn't very friendly.

And nanna's cat Ruby was tucked away safe and sound asleep on nanna's bed, and mum made sure the door was kept firmly closed.

I did manage to sneak in there just once, but I sure didn't see Ruby....I did stand on a lumpy thing on the bed that was under a blanket - I wonder if that was the cat? Mum shooed me out of the room pretty fast.

love Bazzy

Well hello to everyone,
the saga of my bent tail continues. My pinkies decided to just leave it alone and see what happened.
Well not much has happened really.
They thought that it was starting to straighten out just a bit, but now it is still just as bent as it was.
Mum says she is gonna leave it as it is. Bazzy says YAY cause that means no vet man is gonna cut my tail off. Woo hooooo.

Now for some good news.....the pinkies and Ellie and I are going on a road trip......all the way to Leura....yippeeeeeeee.
We are gonna stay with Noah and Willow and Tess and Lucy....and of course D & B too.
Mum says it will be a test to see how well I behave, but I will be a big 1 year old by the time we go, as we are not going until just before Christmas.
But Bazzy is excited about going on holidays, as it will be my first time ever!
Now I have to count down the sleeps until we leave......only 66 sleeps to go.
Geez that seems like a long long time.

Ellie says hi to everyone too. She is feeling a bit better now that she is having the Cartrophen injections, not so stiff in the hip quite so much when she gets up. She has one more injection to go.

We went for big walkies tonight, and we are both happy dales now.
I am not limping much at the moment, so I have been on 3 walkies already this week.

Woo hoo life is good.

Bazzy.

Bazzy's bent tail

Uh-oh.....I don't know how I did it, but my tail got all bent.

Mum and dad both had a poke around at it and moved it and stuff. It doesn't hurt me at all.

It just looks funny sticking out at 90 degrees. Mum thought it might be broken, but we went off to the vet and vet man says I have dislocated the joint at the tip of my Dale tail.

So now mum has to decide what we are gonna do about it. Bazzy says he don't care, cause it don't hurt.

Vet man says we can leave it alone (it may go back all on it own) or it may just stay bent forever.

The other option is to dock Bazzy's tail - oh noooooo, they gonna cut my tail off.

Mum says tail docking is illegal here in Australia, which is why Bazzy has a full tail.

But a vet will dock a tail for medical reasons. Looks like Bazzy has got good medical reasons.

Mum is gonna talk to daddy, see what he thinks........stay tuned.

Bazzy's Hairecut & sleeping on D's bed.

While D was visiting us, mum gave Baz a hAirecut, so she could show D how easy it is to clip us Dales.
Bazzy was not too happy about it, it was only his 2nd hairecut and he wasn't happy about having his head done, but here he is looking all nicely groomed and Daleish. And as we said in our last post, we missed D as soon as she left, so that night Bazzy and I went and had a nice nap together on the bed in the guest room.
We even managed to share the bed without any fighting.
I don't like Baz getting too close to me, so I give him a bit of a telling off sometimes.
We have established some 'sharing the bed rules'.
I sleep at the top near the pillows.
Bazzy has to stay down the bottom.

He is getting smarter now and keeps his distance.

So life is back to normal now, except mum is still home from work.
Both mum and dad are ill with horrid colds. Daddy came home from work at lunch time yesterday and mum hasn't been back to work all week.
Daddy says mum's cough is back and she sounds like us - barking.

Her coughing is so bad that Daddy slept in the guest room last night - just so he could get some sleep.

He gave Bazzy a big fright in the middle of the night.
Bazzy wandered down to go find dad, just as daddy had got up to go to the toilet. They met each other in the doorway and Bazzy barked at daddy then ran off with his tail between his legs cowering.
Oh my, he sure ain't no guard dale like me! lol.
He then slept on the bed with dad for a little while.
Silly Bazzy.

bye now

Miss Ellie :)

Our visitor

Hey hey, we finally had our special visitor come stay with us.....guess who it was?
DENISE from Leura Dales.

Too bad the Leura Dales couldn't come too, but we were very happy to see Denise again.
Baz hadn't met Denise yet, so they had fun getting to know each other. But sooky boy Baz who was allowed to sleep on the big bed with D, wouldn't. He ran back to mum and slept on his own bed in his pen!

What a silly boy! Fancy passing up the chance to sleep on the big bed with D.

And you know what....Bazzy and I both had a sleep on D's bed after she went home.
We missed her already.

We all went on some nice walkies....here is D walking with me in our favourite park in Beaconsfield.
Stupid Bazzy found the foot off a dead kangaroo. YUK Bazzy.

Mum and D also went to visit our friend Jane and her two Dales, Sam and Mr Perriwinkle.
So D got to meet Mr P and Sam at last. They are 2 lovely Aireboys.

This is Mr Perriwinkle, he's a bit cheeky.

And this is Sam, he's just lovely

AND mum, dad and D went to visit Brooke and Greg and see Charlie and Opy.
Mum said Charlie looks really good now, way better than last time she saw him.
He even broke into a run out in his garden. Woo hoo Charlie.......there is still lots of life in that old boy!
So all the pinkies had a really nice time catching up.

D even got to see our Dale friends Spot and Cino.
Here is Bazzy saying hello to Spottie and Cino through the fence.

Bazzy and Spottie giving Dale kisses.....

So D really got a huge Dale fix while she was in Melbourne. There are LOTS of Airedale's down here. And they are all our friends too!

D, has gone back to Leura dales now, we bet they are happy she is back home.
Come again soon D, and you can bring B next time too (lol).

See I am sad now you have gone home D.....

The pinkies are hatching up plans for us to ALL go away on holidays together - that includes all of us Dales - wooo hoooooooooo.

Bye now

Miss Ellie
